Welcome from the Secretary-General
Esteemed Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Distinguished Guests,
It is my distinct honor to welcome you to the 19th iteration of the Washington University Model United Nations Symposium (WUMUNS XIX). On behalf of the entire Secretariat, our staff, and the Washington University community, I am thrilled to invite you to join us on our historic campus this coming October for a weekend of spirited debate, collaboration, and growth.
For nearly two decades, WUMUNS has stood as a premier forum for high school delegates to engage with the most pressing challenges facing our global community. Organized entirely by undergraduate students at Washington University in St. Louis, our team is deeply committed to cultivating an environment that is both rigorous and welcoming.
At the core of the WUMUNS experience is our philosophy regarding committee dynamics. We intentionally maintain intimate committee sizes to ensure that every voice can be heard and every perspective thoughtfully considered. Whether you are stepping into committee for the first time or returning as a seasoned delegate, you will find a space that challenges you to think critically, speak confidently, and collaborate effectively.
WUMUNS XIX will feature a diverse slate of committees designed to engage a wide range of interests, from traditional General Assembly simulations to dynamic crisis committees that demand adaptability and strategic thinking. Across every room, our goal remains the same. We aim to create an atmosphere where diplomacy is not only practiced but truly understood.
We take great pride in our university’s motto, “In St. Louis, For St. Louis,” and strive to bring the world to the Gateway City. Beyond committee sessions, we are excited to continue strengthening the connection between our conference and the vibrant city we call home. From curated programming that highlights the history and culture of St. Louis to opportunities for delegates to build lasting friendships with peers from across the country, WUMUNS is designed to be much more than just a MUN conference.
We look forward to welcoming both new and returning schools and witnessing the creativity, leadership, and diplomacy you will bring to the committee. We eagerly await your arrival this October and are excited to share a weekend of thoughtful debate, new friendships, and unforgettable memories.
Sincerely,
Daniel Mukhin

Our Secretariat
As we begin our preparations for the fall, please know that the Secretariat team is hard at work. We are dedicating the months ahead to thoughtfully crafting background guides that are both accessible and challenging, coordinating logistics to ensure a seamless experience for visiting schools, and planning programming that reflects the high standards our delegates deserve. WUMUNS XIX represents not only the continuation of a proud tradition but also an opportunity to shape the next chapter of our symposium.
